Double-glazed glass is a type of insulating glass with greater heat-insulation performance by enclosing dry air between two sheets of glass. AGC has been improving the performance of its double-glazed glass in various ways. In addition to applying glass surface processing technology to control heat-insulating/shielding effects, we are striving to develop highly-durable insulating glass based on our outstanding glass evaluation and simulation technologies, as well as warm-edged insulating glass which effectively prevents dew condensation with AGC's unique resin spacer ensuring insulation performance even at the edge of the glass.

Ultra-thin glass laminated substrate

Ultra-thin glass laminated substrate is a novel glass substrate which consists of AGC's ultra-thin glass (0.1 or 0.2mmt) attached on a sheet of carrier glass coated with our original bonding layer. This ultra-thin glass laminated substrate has good thermal and chemical durability and the ultra-thin glass can be easily detached from the carrier glass. While demand for lighter-weight and thinner LCDs has been increasing in recent years, ultra-thin glass alone is too fragile and flexible to be handled at existing LCD processing facilities. This ultra-thin glass laminated substrate is ideal for ultra-thin LCD panel production, as it can be handled just like ordinary glass substrates and the ultra-thin glass on the carrier glass can be easily detached after the paneling process.

Direct bonding technology for cover glass in display application

Almost all cover glass in display applications is directly bonded to the display device or touch panel via a transparent resin layer. Optical bonding without air gaps creates a high-quality display image with an excellent contrast ratio as the reflection of ambient light on the interface is kept at a minimum. AGC's bonding technology developed by technological fusion between glass and chemical technologies has achieved a high-quality direct bonding of large-sized LCDs with IPS panels, which has been considered difficult because of the poor uniformity of the display image resulting from conventional bonding technologies.
